Martin Jinek is this year's John Kendrew Award winner


The 2014 John Kendrew Young Scientist Award was today awarded to biochemist Martin Jinek, an SNF assistant professor at the University of Zurich, during the EMBL 40th Anniversary Reunion in Heidelberg, Germany.

The EMBL board elected Martin Jinek from the Czech Republic, former Structural and Computational Biology Unit predoc in the Conti lab, in recognition of the impact of his academic research on technology development in academia and the biotech industry. His collaborative work in the development of RNA-guided gene targeting has helped change the way that genomes are engineered.

The John Kendrew Award cash prize is Euro 5,000.

The Faculty of Science congratulates Martin Jinek for yet another award.
